⭐Thank You Parents' Association⭐
A huge thank you to the outgoing Parents' Association for all of its wonderful fundraising and support to our school. The children have benefitted in so many ways.
The efforts of the Parents' Association has provided funds for Calm Corners to support wellbeing in each classroom from LEAP to 5th class and a special Calm Space for 6th class. Calm Corners allow children to be aware of their own emotions. Children learn how to identify their emotions so they can better regulate them. Calm Corners provide a safe space for children to process these emotions without distraction or judgment. We were able to buy soft flooring, fidget tools, sensory lights, a spinning top for each room LEAP to 5th and a dark tent for 6th class.
- The children can relax and rock in the red spinning top - the movement of rocking our body is an excellent way of stimulating our vestibular system and releases endorphins which help to boost our mood and reduce stress.
- The fidget tools promote a sense of grounding through sensory focus which leads to higher rates of relaxation and increased mindfulness.
- The blackout tent allows for a darker, more restful environment and the optional sensory lights provide a safe and soothing visual experience that can help reduce anxiety and promote relaxation.
Parents' Association fundraising also resourced each class in every year group with a huge amount of fantastic Maths resources to best support learning for the New Primary Maths Curriculum (PMC). Each class now has a class box of Maths resources to support number work and each year group has a shared box of amazing resources for all other strands of the new PMC. The new PMC presents a fresh and exciting vision for children’s mathematical learning that is characterised by playfulness, creativity, challenge, risk-taking, collaboration and opportunities for reasoning and solving real-life problems. Our new resources are vital in supporting this and we are hugely appreciative of the funds raised.
The Parents' Association also helped the school to purchase noticeboards to display the fantastic work going on in the classrooms. The children are very proud to see their pieces on show and it really brightens up our corridors.
The Parents' Association also kindly provided delicious cupcakes and treats for all of the children in 2nd and 6th Classes after the First Holy Communion and Confirmation celebrations. The children had a lovely afternoon in our Halla enjoying the goodies with all of their friends!
The school community is very grateful for your time, commitment and efforts for the benefit of all the children in our care. Go raibh míle, míle maith agaibh!
